I have been covering foto-j missions for more than 20 years. I was a staff photographer for the Wilmington News Journal and with the Associated Press. Freelanced for The Washington Post and The New York Times.
My missions included presidential inaugurations, marches on washington, A 2001 embed with the DOD, 911 attacks, superbowls, world series, UCI World cycling championships, The Iditarod and hundreds of other missions that include documentary, reportage, portraits, and street photography.
This workshop is for intermediate shooters. There will be 3-4 missions that cover breaking news such as fire and police scenes and actions such as protests and demonstrations. I will instruct shooters how to approach a scene, tips on what to expect upon arrival, basic comms with subject matter of known and unknown points of contact, avoiding the heard mentality and we will touch base on foto-j safety such as soft targets, basic first aid knowledge and self-awareness
